Hi guys, got my 06 A3 2.0 Tdi 140 Quattro S-line back from Audi with turbo and intercooler done after it split in two (they said that is was unheard of to split in half-just my luck) so now i'm looking to get the car reamapped (obviously) but i have a few concerns after spending such an amount on the car.

    1. Will having it remapped affect the new turbo that has been fitted??
    2. As i have a 2 year warranty with the newly fitted turbo through Audi would they be able to detect a remap has been done if anything was to happen??
    3. Any good/recommended remapping places in Scotland??

    Thanks in advance!!

I have an A6 2.0 Tid remapped from 140 - 176 from new. Its now 3 and a half years old with no issues relating to that work being carrie out. As the car was new I decided to pay through the nose and got Audi to do it at a cost of £900 ( but this kept the warranty intact you see )
I had a Ford Mondeo St Tdci 155bhp remapped to 195bhp by Seditas of Ayr....great company and fantastic remap ....they also do quite a few for some of the dealers round about them
Anyways, it was £400 of the best money spent
Allegedly they're not detectable, but, you pays your money and you take your chances.....

    Good luck mate

I'm lead to believe that whilst the map itself is not detectable, the evidence of the map is. Something to do with the flash count of the ECU. So, if Audi last saw the car with a flash count of 4, and you then take it in with a flash count of 6, it wound't take a genius to work out what's happened.

That is of course assuming I have picked up that information correctly, and what I have typed is not total crap, lol. I have not really done proper research yet, as I'm waiting until my warranty runs out before 'experimenting'.

All remaps are detectable. Do NOT be fooled by anyone's claims that they are not.

An option that may be good for you is our Self Tuning System. The Self Tuning System actually reflashes the ECU and allows you to reset the flash counter on the ECU so that it IS totally standard and IS NOT traceable once the standard map is put back on. Details of the STS can be seen at http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/sts.asp

We have a group buy on the STS at the moment offering them for FREE - see https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...852#post546852 for details.

    Thanks guys for your response.

Shark 90 this option certainly appeals to me. Would i have to bring the car to you to be remapped?? What kind of figures would i get back? Around 30bhp or so? And i assume i would just plug the STS into my port?? Thanks in advance.

No, that's the beauty of the STS, it can all be done remotely. We have many customers in Scotland, not to mention as far a field as New Zealand

The PD140 is good for 175-180bhp safely and it just plugs in to your diagnostic port to perform the remap. Once the remap is done, you can unplug and put it away until you need it again

Right ok...so its like a plug and play device??! I can put the remap on a off as much as i like (if the car was going back into audi for example) ??

What(if there are) is the drawbacks?

It does seem simple and ideal for what i need if this is the case!!

    Thanks again.

It's almost plug and play, yes. There's some work to do on the computer which will take you 5 minutes or so (sending the map off to us, and receiving the new one) and that's it.

You can take the map on and off the car as often as you like whereever you like, the unit doesn't need an external power source and so you can literally change it wherever you like.

The user manual is downloadable from http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/_c...asp?item_id=69 if you'd like to take a look
