RCD510 radio is an 09 model and the Golf is a 55. Battery drain is about 1 amp. and overnight drains battery.

An updated Can Gateway drops the drain to 0.050 amps so I have been told.

Do I have to remove the instrument cluster to gain access or is there another way??

    Thanks

as far as i know its a compete cluster, why does it take that amount of current to keep it awake.....can you not recode the gateway ? it sounds an expensive way to drop the current

You cant recode a CAN gateway to fix the battery drain issue, its not in the instrument cluster either.

I've read the article here http://www.my-gti.com/2296 but the canbus gateway on the golf plus does not appear to be in the same location as the golf GTI discussed in the thread. I've had a good look in the drivers side footwell and cant find a canbus gateway.

Can anyone confirm that the canbus gateway on a golf plus is behind the instrument cluster (before I remove it)

    Thanks.

Found this youtube video which helps locate the CAN bus gateway on a Mk5 Golf GTI. The video shows a Right Hand Drive vehicle.

Unfortunately it hasn't helped me locate the gateway on a Mk5 Golf Plus,
