    Hi Audi Driver/Engineers,
Can anybody recommend an Auto Gearbox specialist in the London area please?
There is a well-recomended group in Birmingham, Driver Transmissions http://www.drivertransmissions.co.uk/, that mostly deals with German cars- but I haven't yet found a similar group witha good reputation in London.

I have a fault with the Tiptronic box on my '03 3.0 Sport Quattro Avant. According to Audi, these boxes have a 'lifetime' fill of auto fluid, but several Internet posts suggest changing out the fluid as a first off when gearbox problems show up. But even this isn't straightforward, and with the OEM oil costing £150 for 7 litres, I think I need some help.

Any suggestions or experience gratefully received.

    Hi All-Rod,
Thanks alot for your tip of Britannic Autos in Tottenham for auto gearbox faults. I had the same firm recommended by a friend at work - so I think they are good.
I've just had a transmission oil change done at a main dealer, West London Audi for convenience. I got the full treatment - a capuccino when I took the car in, cup of tea when I left, car washed and vacuumed, so you knew the bill was going to be high. Actually it was £217 including 6 litres of the special ATF used for tiptronic boxes, and a read-out of the fault codes. I was told that an ATF change is recommended every 40K miles, and it isn't a 'lifetime' fill as I suggested. There was an odd fault code - multi function switch error, but they thought it meant nothing. However the car is noticeably smoother changing now with the new fluid, and the old jerkiness fault has disappeared. Moral of the story, as Honest John says, change the car fluids often, engine, gearbox, brakes.
