I'm puzzled at why my blower motor won't work. It simply will not spin up while hooked up in the car. Here's what I know thus far.

    - Blower doesn't work on any speed settings. This happened overnight. No gradual failure, just stopped all of a sudden. (Though possibly unrelated, the washer fluid motor stopped working at the exact same time as the blower motor).
    - Blower does work if I connect it to an external power source. I've used everything from a AA Battery (1.5v) to my car battery (12v).
    - Power plug for the blower reads 3.19v - 3.24v on all speed settings with the car running, and cuts off appropriately when switched off. No speed reads differently.
    - Have tested ground by inserting probe into positive side of power plug for blower, and grounding to the body of the car. Same voltage readings at the plug.
    - Have tested all fuses in all 3 fuse panels.
    - Replaced the blower motor resistor.

The only thing I don't know how to test is the speed control switch itself. Could this be the culprit? This is driving me insane! Any thoughts on this one?

The speed control switch is just a switch with 3 outputs. The speed is controlled by the resistor pack. It is usually the thermal fuse in the resistor pack that fails. Did you replace yours with a new one. Test the power feed to the switch to se if it has 12v. Then test the power feeds to the resistor pack to see if they power up when the switch is turned.

Replaced the resistor pack the other day, but no dice. Just went out and tested the power feeds to the switch and to the resistor pack. With the car on and running and the switch turned on, I don't get a power reading at all on any of the feeds on the switch or on the resistor pack.

With the switch on position 4 you should have 12v ind 12v out. The 12v out should go to the blower motor. On the other 3 positions you should have 12v in and 3 different volages out because of the triple resistor pack. If you do not have 12v into the switch, have a look under the dash for a rely plate with j13 relay. You may or may not have this. If you do, it might be faulty. good luck

Thanks for the info. I found a diagram that had all related relays/fuses, so I'll try to check them tonight. I've thought about running a line directly to the battery with a toggle switch just to get some relief. Any reason that wouldn't work until I figure this guy out?

That would work. I would include a fuse just in case.

Ok, so I've wired up my blower directly to the battery with an inline fuse for now. After checking all wires going to and from the blower control switch, I have no power. Traced it back to the resister, no power there either. Any thoughts as to what would keep it from getting power?
