Hello my Audi A4 Quattro Sport estate is due for a new cam belt change. I am not paying for Audis over priced garage services and i am lucky enough to know a very good mechanic, hes recommended that i purchase a Gates timing Kit with a vibration dampner which i can get for £76 plus vat. Theres other kits available but he says this is the best, SKF and INA are 2 others which are similarly priced can anyone agree or disagree many thanks in advance

Gates is the OEM supplier of cambelts & SKF/INA are large worldwide OEM bearing manufacturers ( who make the cambelt tensioners), so all of them are reputable quality suppliers.

If you know anyone locally with a TPS account, they do really good offers on cambelt kits, around £50 depending on model, although this will not contain the hydraulic tensioner damper you also want to change. How many miles have you done as the damper usually gets replaced at the second change as long as there are no signs of it leaking and loosing its ability to damp properly. Yes Gates are the original manufacturers.
