Hello all, first post here, apologies if this question has been answered before, but with 108 pages of threads, that's a lot of reading!

I've just bought a 2009 Audi A4, 2.0 TDI SE, very happy with the car. It comes with phone prep i.e. an adaptor cradle for a Nokia Phone in the armrest, and a fin antenna on the roof. The dashboard MMI has an option for telephone usage

My current mobile phone is an iPhone (iOS4), but I cannot get this to pair directly with the Audi A4.

Do I need to have an iPhone specific cradle adaptor in the armrest, which then somehow pairs with the Audi A4? Or can the iPhone-A4 pairing be done directly using Bluetooth only? I've tried pairing my phone (using the usual 4 digit password in the Audi Manual), but the Audi A4 never actually finds the iPhone, nor does the iPhone ever recognise the Audi A4.

Can you please help me. would like some more information on this before I head to an Audi dealer and he tries to sell me more stuff than I actually need.

    Thanks in advance

Welcome davido and hope you get the answer you need.

I have a 2010MY with MMI and phone prep low and a 3Gs with iOS4 and it works fine.

Paring is via BT and I have no craddle.

I am sure you have tried but I would set the MMi to hunt for new devise and same with iphone and the audi I would think would just pop up in the iphones search screen.

If no joy I would run it straight into your local *******.

Hi Pitch, thanks for the reply.

For the sake of clarity, how do I set the MMI to hunt for new device?

    Here goes.......

Tel > Bluetooth (bottom left hand corner)
    > Bluetooth - on
    > Discoverability - auto
    > Find Bluetooth devices, hit that and it should find your iphone

    Good Luck

You don't say which MMI you have (High/low) but in my car with MMI low (no nav) but with phone prep, you need to pair from the phone under Settings > General > Bluetooth

The Audi is only discoverable for 5 minutes after the engine is switched on and it usually comes up as "handsfree" before renaming itself "Audi UHV".

The default Bluetooth pin for the Audi is 0000 but this can be reset on the car under telephone > setup (button)

    I have a 3g running 3.1.3, a 3GS running iOS 4 and an iPhone 4 running iOS 4 all pairing quite happily with my 58 plate S-line.

I have the cradle as well but I don't use it most of the time and all it does is provide an aerial and charging point, the actually link to the car is still via Bluetooth.

Hi All, still having problems. Firstly, i'm not sure how to tell if the MMI is high or low, not too familiar with the terms

When I first select Tel, it says "Telephone not available", then changes to an infinite period of saying "Please wait", nothing happens after this.

I can't actually set the A4 to look for devices, as the menu options outlined by Pitch above don't seem to be present on my MMI. Perhaps I actually don't have the bluetooth module installed? I have the cradle and the roof aerial, but nowhere do I see an option for bluetooth under any settings menu.
