    Hi

Got a warning for a rear brake light out, question is how on earth do you access the light cluster? I had a quick look earlier and concluded that it's been designed in order for audi to maximise revenue from the customer.

There's no way the car is going to the main dealer for a 300 quid bulb change!

There must be a way... would appreciate any advice.

open the boot, and you should see a bit of trim against the side in the shape of a circle.
pull that back and you will see a screw, undo that slowly and the cluster will come away.
pull it off slowly, there is a lead attached to the whole thing, but will still allow you to pull away and access.
the cluster is clipped into the housing and you just need to press the clips in and manipulate it out.
change which ever light bulb you need jobs done.
i did it a couple of weeks back and i'm useless with these kinda things

Thanks - but I forgot to say it's the A4 Avant (estate) so am guessing this may be different.

There's a panel to the side which is easily removed but behind this is the audio amplifier and a fan unit of some sort. No access to the light cluster from here, it looks like you need to remove the interior plastic trim panels to get anywhere near the cluster.

There is a small round plastic plug in the panel. Prise it carefully out and insert a 10 ?mm socket to unscrew the single bolt which secures the light cluster.
    Should be an easy job.
    Report back on progress!
    Best of luck.

The description given is for an Avant.

If you take a look at the very first sticky thread in the forum it should give you all the help. It is called "##B6 Front Headlight & Tail light REPLACEMENT Guide"

    Cheers
