Hello
I am currently having a 'go' at Audi legally, as my TDI 170ps Avant is only getting 36mpg on motorway trips (and that's driving like Miss Marple). They have told me that the mpg is within 30% of the published figures so there's nothing wrong?!?
Does anyone have a brochure on the A4 (B7) 2.0 TDI S-Line Quattro Avant (2007) that states the fuel consumption figures, as it will help my case immensely? Thanks very much..

Hi molby
It might be worth having a look at http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/ and you may feel a bit better about what you are getting!
I have brochures for Sept 06 (Edition 3) and May 2007 (Edition 6) if these would help. Just PM me and I'll e-mail over the pdf's.
I'm sure many would be interested to know if you get anywhere on this.

For a true comparison then your vehicle would need to be tested via a rolling road as this is the method all manufacturers use to determine mpg for differing driver profiles.
So taking into account road surface tyre pressure ambient conditions vehicle load etc then your argument is inaccurate until correct test conditions are met.

Hi, I've been thinking if it's possible to take legal action over this one. I've no doubt that under test conditions they won't achieve within 30% of the published figures. What kind of outcome would you be after though? I would be interested in aiding you in this one...
I've always found it interestign that the one high end Audi they don't fit a trip computer to is the A4 170TDI...what are they trying to hide!

Before you buy it's worthing asking if the oil pump is chain or gear driven. The year (engine code starting BLB) you're looking at has a known problem with the balance shaft and pump shaft due to the chain wearing and breaking.
Type BLB into the Search box and do some reading on this forum. I'm afarid it's pretty depressing...I know this because I recently bought a 55 plate A4 2.0 TDi. Fortunately mine was manufactured in early 2006 and has an engine code starting BRE, which I am lead to believe has the gear driven pump...

I recently bought the a4 (B6) Avant 1.9TDi quattro SE on a 2004(54) plate. I had originally been looking for a B7 model on a 06 plate but when I read all the threads about mpg and DPF problems I said I'd save my self the dosh and hassle and went for the B6. I'm guessing that the published mpg figures were calculated with no DPF in the exhaust system as these cars seem to consistently do poor MPG which apparantly is sorted with the DPF bypass(more dosh but sorts these cars out from what I hear). I get about 44 ish with the 1.9 with mixed driving but no traffic jams.
