Hey fella's
Just bought a 2000 A6 Avant 2.5 TDI with 112K.
After 3000 rpm it just doesnt want to know. Its in limp mode at the moment according to a diagnostic machione today and the fault codes brought up 3 sensors not working. The guys in the tuning place told me to bring it back so they can spend more time looking at it at a cost of £83 p/h.
When the revs are coming down there is a gurgling noise coming from around the air filter box. Sometimes sounds like worn bearings from one of the pumps
Any one had any of these problems. The garage reckon its one sensor which is causing the other sensors to give a fault code.
Does anyone have any experience of this and be able to point to the probable cause or more likely sensor and what could be causing the funny noise on deceleration

Check the 15A fuse for the reverse lights which also feeds the MAF (maybe position 23). If the fuse is blown, the engine defaults to limp mode and there is no power at all in the upper park of the rev band. This will also throw fault codes for the MAF and some others.

At last a response !!!!!!
Ive just checked the reverse lights and their both on so that rules the fuse out.
Someone mentioned MAF sensor before, my car had a new main dealer one fitted 60k miles ago. Ive seen new ones on Ebay being sold for £40 whilst main dealer charges £200.
Is it worthwhile buying the one for £40 and fitting it myself or better still cleaning my existing one. Dont know if this will make any difference cos on a recent diagnostics test 2 fault codes came out, dont know if these affect performance, Any ideas ???
01375 - Valves for Engine mounting, stage 1
38-10 Output wont switch or short to plus - intermittent
00601 - Potentiometer on positioning motor for central flap (G112)
30-10 Open or Short to plus - intermittent
I dont know what these. If you know and could advise me on the remedies it would be much appreciated
Cheers mate in advance

Don't think either of these trouble codes should put you into limp mode (the 2nd is related to the climate control). There must be other trouble codes specifically from the engine management. Ideally find someone nearby with VAG-COM and get all the codes cleared and rechecked.
Another possibility is that there is an air leak so check all the small pipes (esp. the EGR valve circuit) connected to the induction side and the electrical connections to the MAF. The MAF is easy to fit (10 minute job with a screwdriver) but dont bother unless you have exhausted other possibilities. Whether you go for an OEM or pattern part is a personal decision but even an OEM part and DIY will cost you a lot less than £200.
Failing that you might consider if the wastegate is seized or the charge pressure sensor is not working. Still these should show up with trouble codes, so that is really where you need to start.

I had a problem with the MAF, could be the same thing - I have no car fixing experience - and fitted it myself :)
as mentioned in my thread, try unplugging it and see if the car takes off :)

Little Tommy (who was Jewish) was doing very badly in math. His parents had tried everything: tutors, etc., they tried everything they could think of. Finally, in a last ditch effort, they took Tommy down and enrolled him in the local Catholic school. After the first day, little Tommy came home with a very serious look on his face. He didn't even kiss his mother hello. Instead, he went to his room and started studying. Books and papers were spread out all over the room and little Tommy was hard at work. His mother was amazed. She called him down to dinner and to her shock, the minute he was done he marched back to his room without a word and in no time he was back hitting the books as hard as before. This went on for some time, day after day while the mother tried to understand what made all the difference. Finally, little Tommy brought home his report card. He quietly laid it on the table and went up to his room and hit the books. With great trepidation, his Mom looked at it and to her surprise, little Tommy got an A in math. She could no longer hold her curiosity. She went to his room and said: "Son, what was it? Was it the nuns?" Little Tommy looked at her and shook his head, no. "Well, then," she replied, "was it the books, the discipline, the structure, the uniforms? WHAT was it?" Little Tommy looked at her and said, "Well, on the first day of school, when I saw that guy nailed to the plus sign, I knew they weren't fooling around.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------We offer wow power leveling (http://www.wow-power-leveling.org) and World of Warcraft Powerleveling, wow power leveling (http://www.wowgoldcc.com), Buy Cheap WoW Power Leveling, enjoy best service:cheap WoW Gold (http://www.wowgold-de.com), WoW Gold (http://www.tbcgold.fr), buy WoW Gold (http://www.gamelee.de),
