Hello everyone, I'm new to VW and to the forum. I have been asked to help a relative who has a problem with his Golf, it's been to a specialist who has changed the common rail diesel sensor, the camshaft position sensor, the fuel filter and had the injectors tested (and charged him £880) The fault is still exactly the same though, very poor starting, poor idle and rough running, it's very erratic, sometimes it will idle and sometimes it won't. It also sounds as though there's some sort of pre-ignition going on every now and then too. I've put a scanner on it today and the injector variance doesn't look right to me, can anyone tell me what the max/min variances should be? Another thing to mention is that this all apparently started when he removed a fuse (he can't remember which one!) to get the ABS light to go out!! There's not fuel legend in the car for me to check either so it would also be helpful is anyone has one of those for this car. Many thanks, Alan. 39265

You can't test those injectors... What is the VIN?

A friend of mine called Daryl runs a highly respected company called Gee Diesel and I asked him about these injectors and he said apart from in engine leak back tests and other basic test with a diagnostic system you can’t do anything with them so as as we do, only fit Bosch exchange units 0 986 435 166, even VW have given up offering recon units.

Is this a 2L GTD golf, what engine code?
What price are the new exchange Bosch injectors?

The VAG price is £706.45… each! Search the Bosch number above and there are less painful alternatives but do factor in the costs and complications of returning the old “core” unit(s) back to suppliers not in the UK such as Aut0doc and its myriad shadow companies in Germany.

The cars reg no or engine code would be helpful plus mileage

Crasher, would you know the engine code of a mk7 2.0L GTD golf and the engine code of the mk7 150hp version, please?

Thanks for the replies guy's. I've got loads of screen shots from the tester but I can only attach one at a time by the looks of it. The only code I got was for the glow plug relay but that cleared and hasn't come back on. The engine takes ages to start and then runs very erratically, I'm really not convinced it's the injectors, I've got a suspicion it may be bad fuel, I'm going over again next Friday with fresh fuel (I'll bypass the cars system a feed straight into the HP Pump) and see what happens! Can anyone answer the injector volume variance question? Thanks again.

There are quite a few, do you have the VIN(s)?

I don't have a Vin, I was just looking to make note of the engine codes as looking to buy one in the near future and wanted to research the engines. In my ignorance I assumed there'd only be 1 2L engine code for the Mark7 specific Gtd. I sort of assumed the same for the 150 2L model.

You'd wonder why they have different engines in the 2L, do all these different engines not cause more expense for VW rather than just using the 1 engine.

You would not believe how complex it is, it is all I can do to keep up. Without breaking them down by PS, 2L TDI for 2017 are CRBC,CRGA,CRLB,CRLD,CRVA,CRVC,CYKB,DCYA,DCYB,DEJA, DEJB,DFGA,DFGB,DGCA,DJGA

Wow, when you said quite a few I was thinking 3 or 4, obviously if I thought there were a million I wouldn't have asked for their numbers. I think I count 15 in your list, Thanks for posting them. I'll research them individually myself now. One would have to wonder are there really much differences between all them engines. I'll research and try to determine which ones are better than others, etc,,, but at least I have a starting point. :)

In my opinion / experience the best diesel mk4 golf was the 1.9L ASZ and the 2.0L BKD in the mk5 Golf.
