Popped some genuine s line 19's on my A6. She's a bit wallowy in the corners so was thinking about lowering her to improve this. Genuine s line springs with a 20mm drop are £540. Been looking at h&r but the the smallest drop I can find is 35mm. Anyone here lowered their A6 and recommend a height? She's a 61plate A6 C7 4g 2.0tdi 175bhp variant. Thanks in advance all

What suspension does the car have currently? There were three options from the factory:
- Dynamic Suspension (code 1BA)
- Sports Suspension (code 1BE) - lowered by 20mm with more firmly tuned springs and dampers
- S line Sports Suspension (code 1BV) - more dynamic suspension tuning and vehicle lowered by a further 10mm (so lowered by 30mm from Dynamic)
The build sticker in the wheel well of the boot or the inside cover of the service book should list the option codes for your car - including the suspension code.
Once you know what you have currently, you'll have a better idea of what might be a good option to aim at in terms of height drop.
Does the cost of £540 you quoted for the Sports Suspension include the dampers too, or is it just for the springs? You will need both, and I suspect the same is true with the H&R options.
Cheers!

My 2011 3.0 tdi Quattro acquired by me at 46k miles began life as 1BA and all I would say about it was wallowy.
Suspension improvements began at about 70k miles and continued over a period of time, allowing a reasonable assessment to be made of each one.
1) fitted Bilstein dampers, B6 I think, as I didn't have lowering springs at the time. Much more controlled ride over bumps and less wallowy on corners. No adverse comments from passenger #1 (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) who is very critical of poor riding cars.
2) fitted Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs. It is difficult to measure the lowered drop, but all four wheels on my car now have a hub centre to wheel arch distance of between 365 to 370mm. Springs give a firmer ride and corner better. No adverse comments from passenger #1 (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) on the ride.
3) fitted 20.7mm dia rear anti roll bar as 1BE bought from E-bay. There are 2 part numbers depending on whether the arb is from a vehicle with conventional wire springs or air sprung. An air spung arb has a curved section in it to fit around the air compressor. Wire spring vehicles can have either fitted. Mine came from an A7 with air springs and is part number 4G0 511 305P. Wire spring arb is 4G0 511 305D. The part numbers and therefore sizes are the same for A6, A7 and RS6 (air sprung only). This gave less understeer when cornering and still no adverse comments from passenger#1 (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) .
4) fitted Blue marked front arb as 1BE part number 4G0 411 309E. Same part number and sizes as above for A6, A7 and RS6. Again an E-bay part and allegedly from an RS6. Most noticeable difference is improved turn-in to corners. Passenger #1 (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) now commenting that we seem to be cornering faster, but no complaints about ride although you can tell there is less roll movement in the car.
Sorry for all the blurb, but I hope it gives some help on the effect of suspension changes and how components can be improved or interchanged.
