I have a new A6 Black Edition for which I bought Paint Protection at the time of purchase.
I recently had the car valeted professionally and was told that it didn't appear to have any worthwhile paint protection at all
I contacted Audi to ask about a cert. and was told 'We register the paint protection our end so you don’t need to worry about that side of things!'
Should I have received a cert. or pack of some sort?
I now realise paint protection is likely a waste of money anyhow

Would have expected you to get a package of products to refresh the paint protection as is the case with the AutoGlym Lifeshine system

Thank you for your reply john. I did indeed get the AutoGlym Lifeshine system. I wondered if I should have also received any paperwork proving it had actually been done.

If you have been to any cheap car wash they have probably removed it with the chemicals they use. A good ceramic coating from Gtechniq would have been a better choice.

About 2 days after picking the car up the dealer sent me the warranty paperwork via email.
Here’s a screenshot of the certificate from AutoGlym and there’s some contact numbers on it (sorry a bit weirded out by data being shared so please excuse my scribbling....)

Not really worth the paper it's written on unfortunately. You can buy the AG sealant for like £5 and it will be washed off in a couple of weeks.

I got a new VW Up a few years ago and asked them not to do any prep to the paint before delivery, they gave me the pack of 'Lifeshine' stuff they would have used and TBH it's not worth bothering with, I never used it. I did the interior treatment myself and use decent carnuba wax every few washes. If you want proper protection you'd be best getting it done at a detailer, not cheap though.

I'm guessing LifeShine isn't ceramic ?

I'm guessing LifeShine isn't ceramic ?It sits on rather than bonds to the paint. 'Ceramic' is a bit of a throw away term

Quote,
"Carbon Shield Technology fuses liquid carbon to vehicle paintwork" bla bla.
From their homey pagey 'ting. Sounds a lot like 'bonding' to me.

Sounds like the old adage "Bullsh*t baffles brains" is still going strong in the car industry:Blush:
The thing is supaguard and life shine isn’t that bad. It’s better than no protection on the car but like most products it isn’t applied properly by the valeters at the dealership. Body need prepped and decontaminated first then applied properly. Most dealership will peel the protective stickers off the car and a quick wash with a dirty sponge then slap that stuff on and then another quick wash. They don’t have time for it.
The punter buys into it as when they leave the forecourt it’s shiny or it beading water and see they got £500 worth then after a couple of washes it stops beading as the products haven’t cured or been applied properly.

The other angle is the cost. £500 will get someone decent prepping and applying something better.
You'd be hard pushed to find many good detailers offering lifeshine even though they can pickup the whole kit from ebay for £10-15. At that price it's worth a punt yourself though if you don't want to spend the ~£100 on a decent sealant.

In some parts of the world where I've been, for £500 they'd lick your car clean for a year :(

I paid £400 for a new car detail (to remove the dealer inflicted swirls) and professional only max protect coatings externally and Gtechniq internally. Best money I ever spent as it’s a dream to wash now and still as a glossy as the day it was applied.

I am a spray painter in the motor trade and have been all my working life. All the dealerships I've worked with, BMW, Ford etc all offer the paint protection. It is a complete waste of money as they never get used. The customer pays around £500 plus for this protection and in most cases it all goes into a cupboard and left with all the other kits they have sold customers! To be honest you'd be better purchasing a good ceramic wax polish or a good wax with Nanotechnology. I use a ceramic wax polish which I import from China priced at around £36 per tin and it's a hell of a lot better than the protection that the garage would have put on your car! It's repells the water and it just runs straight off the car plus the shine is awesome. I have a 2001 plate pug 206 and it has the shine of a new car and it's original paint. Worth 36 quid any day and it's effortless to use
