I recently bought a 59 plate vw golf 1.6 blue motion it has original vw stereo and an added parrot attached to it. Stereo has a Bluetooth option for connecting to android mob for music playback but does not work can anybody help or advise ??
Thanks in advance

If the stereo has bluetooth why would it need a Parrot phone adapter? Or is the bluetooth music playback done via the Parrot?

Well that's what I thought.
Parrot model has only capable to do calls not music.
My mobile finds parrot but I want to play music from my android mob to vw stereo.
Why would it have Bluetooth as an option and then not show up. Very strange
Thanks in advance

Take a look under the driver's seat. That's where the factory bluetooth module normally lives. If there isn't an ECU under there the car doesn't have factory bluetooth.

I'm pretty sure it's under the driver's seat. If I remember right, it's in a kinda black polystyrene housing. Pic of the box below :

No nothing under drivers seat rather.
That must be why parrot was fitted. I think my only options are to buy Bluetooth from vw and wire it up or buy parrot also plays music ?

If it was me, I'd buy a Parrot MKi 9100 or 9200. Basically, both are the same adapter just different displays. Both have multiple music inputs, either iPod, USB or 3.5mm AUX jack. They also stream music via Bluetooth which needs an optional extra cable with the VW equivalent. Oh, and you will already have the wiring adapter for a Parrot behind the radio.

You'll need either a MKi9100 or 9200. What you shouldn't need is the wiring adapter that interfaces the bluetooth to the car radio. You should already have that connected to your current Parrot. Just remove your current Parrot and replace it with the new one.
There are a lot of wires on those Parrot kits, especially the older ones, and at first it "looks" a bit complicated. Don't be put off by all the wires. It's a pretty much plug 'n' play installation. Usually the hardest part is trying to get the radio back into the dash with all the extra wire behind it, but that's not so bad on the 91/9200 because they only have one box to hide behind the dash as were the earlier Parrots had two.

You'll need the complete 91/9200 kit not just the display. The bit the music plugs into is on the control box.

I had an MKi9200 in my old Civic. I would be carefull with second hand kits as they may not have the latest software and may not work correctly with the latest phones. According to the Parrot site the latest version of the 9200 is the mk3. I had the mk2 and it was great on phone calls but occasionally kept resetting the iPod connection but that could have been the iPod itself of course.
If you are buying second hand make sure it comes with the blue control box as this is not the same as the one you have. Also you need to make sure the whole kit is supplied, screen, controller, parrot wiring loom and cable for the ipod/usb/3mm Jack is included. You may be able to re-use the existing microphone but no guarantees. The wiring interface between the Parrot loom and the back of the VW head unit should be the same so that can probably be re-used.
As for Bluetooth streaming, I only used this one or two times as I mainly used the hardwired iPod connection but certainly you can control the music from the phone or at least it worked on my HTC one M8 and Samsung S7.
It may be worth you taking a look at the Parrot website. It is quite good with downloads and a user forum and if you are unsure about doing the install yourself then there are plenty of companies who will do this for you including Halfords but of course that would be for new kits.

I was thinking it would be easier just to buy an android chinesse stereo with camera etc, instead of trying parrot as you said it may not have the latest software alot to do just to get bluetooth music from android mob to car stereo, also another downside is i will lose display that i use with parking sensors ??

You are going to have to remove and reinstall the stereo anyway whatever you do. Change the Parrot Kit, install VW Bluetooth, new head unit all mean a strip out and reinstall. If you decide on the new head unit plus camera then you are going to have to install the camera, run wires etc. plus you may need an interface cable between the head unit and the VW loom. You say you will loose the parking sensor display which I guess is the VW OPS display. You will probably loose that with the third party head unit but not with the Parrot Kit because I guess it works with the current Parrot Kit and the VW dealer solution is usually a Bury kit that is effectively the same as the Parrot and I believe OPS works with those.
Choice is yours really. If you are confident in installing a new head unit then the Parrot Kit upgrade should be easy enough. I would do a bit of research on pricing of a new MKi 9200 as it may be cheaper and easier than the new head unit and camera.

Understood, and I saw the history but it was worth double checking just in case someone had installed the Bluetooth module somewhere non standard. I was in the same situation as you when I purchased my Golf. This time around I did not go down the Parrot route as the car has MDI and I plugged my iPod into that so I can control it from the RCD310. For the phone I try to avoid using it in the car and tend to receive calls only so bought a Plantronics earpiece.

Yours is a 2009 car and mine is a 2010 so hopefully, if you have MDI fitted it will be in the centre armrest. There should be a 3.5mm or 2.5mm Jack socket on the outside and inside should be the MDI interface with a connector that looks similar to the old iPod connector. I had to buy an interface cable to connect the iPod. Samsung S6 has a micro usb connection I think and you can get MDI to micro usb adapter cables, just Google it. So first, have you got MDI. If yes then get a cable and connect the phone. I have no idea if you can control the music on your phone using the head unit but it might work and will only cost a few quid to find out. Otherwise, plug your phone in via a cable from the phone headphone socket to the Jack socket and control the music from your phone.

I must be going mad. Quickest check to find out if MDI is fitted is press MEDIA on the head unit. If MDI is fitted then it should show up on the display. If it does, and it is not in the armrest, check the glove box.

Worth a try but I don't think it will work. At least not like an iPod/iPhone.
The USB connection is for storage devices (pen drive). It doesn't have control interface for an Android phone. It might recognize the phone as a storage device though which is better than nowt.

Thanks Flash2. Thought that might be an issue. Still should be able to control via the phone but I guess that could be done via the headphone socket on the phone and aux in Jack socket.

Just make sure the MDI is actually fitted.

The above shows mine in the armrest and you can see the aux in Jack socket beside the handbrake.
But please see above about possible control problems. A simple lead from the phone headphone socket to the aux in may work just as well.

Brilliant. At least you can connect your phone via a cable or maybe load a usb stick up with your music and connect that via an adapter cable to the MDI port. Not Bluetooth but it should be a solution for very little money.

I cannot tell you what is best for you, only you can make that decision. The picture you posted shows a lead connected to the MDI port. What connection is on the other end of the lead?
Options are:
1. Connect your phone via the headphone socket and lead to the aux in port. Problem with this is that all music control will be via the phone. Biggest issue is that when driving you will have to use your phone to change music and if your spotted doing that then you wiĺl end up with points and a fine.
2. Connect your phone via and MDI port to micro USB lead. As Flash2 said you still may not be able to control the music via the head unit but it may be possible. If I plug my phone into my computer I am able to navigate through the file structure on the phone to the music and then play it through the computer. No guarantees that this will work with the MDI/head unit but it might. Downside is you may waste £10 or less on a lead if it does not work.
3. Buy a USB stick and put your music on that. You can copy from the phone to the USB stick via or computer or if your music is on iTunes (or similar) then just copy straight from your computer to the stick. Plug the stick into the MDI port via a suitable adapter (not the micro usb but standard usb). Then the MDI / head unit should find the music so you can control it from the head unit.
Those I think are the options available to you right now so the choice is yours. For me, I would go with 2 or 3 but that is my personal choice, you have to make your own mind up.
Oh, there is option 4. Install a Bluetooth setup but then we go back to the beginning again.

I have no idea about a connection on the back of the stereo but there should be a 3.5mm Jack socket on the outside of the armrest moulding. Fairly low down beside the handbrake. If you look back through the posts you will see it in the picture.

Yes, but it's not in the form of a 3.5mm jack socket.
As malsterl says though, there is usually a 3.5mm AUX input socket on the center armrest :

Have you tried connecting your phone/MP3 player to the AUX input to see if that works OK?
The device in your link looks like it's meant for home use. How are you powering it in the car?
If your using a phone charger to power it, that might be the problem. I notice on the web page that it draws 0.5A @ 5V which is more than double the output current that most phone charges can supply.

Anybody seen a device made by company called pure it gives you dab stations and you can connect any mobile phone so good for calls hands free and you can play music saved on MiB through stereo speakers. Just wondering if I can put link to sight on here or if anyone has tried it in the vw golf mk6
