So, the obvious question.
Work will buy me a new S7 phone (released yesterday) but i cant find anywhere if it will be rsap compatible.
Does anyone know or have a link to it?
Its an expensive gamble to order on a 2yr contract if it doesn't.
I a sure it will as all the older galaxys do......

Given every Galaxy S has supported RSAP I don't see why this one wouldn't.. However RSAP is a depricated feature so it's unlikely to appear on any spec sheet, it will be a case of waiting for someone to get their hands on one to test it..

HTC broke rSAP on my M8 with the Marshmallow update, so the reason I'm picking the S7 over the other new phones this year (HTC M10, LG G5) is because Samsung have consistently supported rSAP on previous models.
I have an S7 Edge on pre-order; rSAP is a key feature for me, so I'll be trying it out ASAP, so I'll report back here. It's supposed to arrive on about the 8th.

Thanks, AllotmentChap. A prompt report would be great as I want to order one and I need to do so before the end of the 10th if I am to get the free VR headset. rSAP is an absolute requirement for a new phone.

I'll let you know how **** the VR headset is too, then. ;-)

Got my S7 Edge last night, but haven't had a chance to try it in the car yet. Will give it a go tonight and report back tomorrow if I get a chance.

Also very interested in your or other poster results from this - as like the OP, I'm holding off on buying the new S7 until I can confirm if it works to provide a data signal (for traffic / Google maps etc) with my Audi A7 (2012)MMI.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to test and update us all :-)

I knew I'd seen a thread like this...or this one!
If you don't get a chance, let me know and I can check today
I've got it paired over bluetooth without any issues and it does my messages etc. While marshmallow has had subtle changes for instance with storage utilisation etc, I can't think of any issues with RSaP

S7 Edge confirmed as working. Place orders at will. :D
I've just set it up, connected via rSAP, and works a treat (as expected). Car has full data access to the SIM, and Google Maps, online destinations etc all work. Lovely. :)

Is that an S7, or are you replying in the wrong thread to my question about the HTC One M8 working? ;)

Thanks, AllotmentChap, really valuable intelligence. Annoyingly - but not surprisingly - the offer on the Sansung website whereby they throw in a VR headset for free is not a great offer; the phone can be ordered for £70 less from other outlets - about the cost of the headset!

I got mine (S7 Edge) for £99 on a 6GB, unlimited voice/SMS contract for £36/month, including the free VR - which I sold yesterday for £80 (didn't want it anyway - daft nonsense). So I'm reasonably happy. :)

I have a 2012 A6 and just purchased a Galaxy S7. Bluetooth works fine but phonebook not transferring. Previously used a Galaxy S5 Active; worked fine. Reset MMI at dealer's instruction, no remedy. Suggestions?

Finally got mine working today (S7 edge). I may have deleted 200 contacts in transferring over from my S3, but at least the RSAP does work properly.
Phone book to about 3 mins to transfer.
My system holds 4 full phone books, but only lets me view them when the phone that provided them is connected. Crappy system. Really non user friendly.
Main thing is it works the same as my old phone data and calls all ok.

Hi, I have an Audi A6 Allroad 2012 with MMI 3G and my new S7 EDGE simply seems to connect in handsfree mode with no remote SIM indications Were there any settings on the Audi or S7 EDGE that were needed? Or alternatively I guess, what version MMI foimware/S7 EDGE firmware are you running?
Thanks
Andy

For anybody else who likes Samsung hardware, but is fed up with Samsung's kindergardenesque TouchWiz version of Android, seriously consider the LG G5: looks like a beast of a phone - I'd prefer if it was a little smaller (<5" instead of 5.3"), but it does everything the S7 does, PLUS has Infrared (for the gym/pub TV channel/volume coup d'etat) and a removable battery.
And it's one of the first non-Samsungs in a LONG time to explicitly call-out rSAP support: LG G5 - Specifications (http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/d5483a45)
S7 is waterproof and more compact, but it's a few hundred quid more.... and is increasingly trying to lock people into TouchWiz.

hi all,
considering a Galaxy S7 (have iPhone at mo) I have few questions if I may - my car is MY 2012 (with mmi touch, SIM card slot etc)
1) When importing a "contact" to the MMI via bluetooth does the installed contact include the image of the Contact you have stored on your phone ? - ( iPhone only have the functionality of sending numbers/letting but no image of contact)
(I'm sure I read somewhere on tinterweb that it's possible to include the image of a contact when you import via an SD card -havnt tried this)
2) when you receive a txt message does it show on MMI screen or does it just show on the phone ? -on my iPhone the txt appears only on my phone - but as the Galaxy has Rsap wonder if it functions differantly
3) I'm thinking of changing my network to BT mobile which gives access to numerous BT hotspots - When my passengers connect iPads to the WLAN in the car they will be using my data allowance- is it possible to set the data connection up using a BT hotspot user name / password which would provide "free" internet rather than using my data allowance.
thanks in advance !

I have a Samsung S6 edge + and it works fantastically.
Never had any issues with Bluetooth music streaming or rsap issues.
In answer to your questions my car does not show images connected to contacts in the phone.
Messages do show on the mmi and you can reply to them on there as well.
Re point three I very much doubt it. I have an unlimited data plan on the three network so never worry about the kids using an my data up via the WiFi.

My FL car does show images associated with contacts. These are transferred automatically as part of the Bluetooth address book transfer. Could be an FL feature, but the protocol used is the same on both pre- and post-FL so I don't see why there should be a difference.

I think it must be a FL feature as "Big Tex-Uk " does not see his contact images he has a MY 2013 , and a Galaxy S6 .
or it could be a S6 / S7 thing assuming you have an S7 ?

Mine is an S4 phone, so it's not that... Maybe it is an FL thing...

It could be. My car does not display the album art when I listen to music from my old iPhone I have connected via the ami interface. It also doesn't when Bluetooth streaming from my Galaxy S6....
However if I use Internet radio via WiFi it displays it with no problem??? I can't figure out why.
Also strangely today I tried to reply to a text message the car received today and it wouldn't. I am guessing this is to do with entering the service centre number for Three in one of the settings though.

You have to remember the FL A6 MMI is based around the current MIB2 platform, where as the pre-facelift was the older 3GP system. It was not just a software update! It was also a major change in the MMI hardware architecture. Sure some of the software feature set was transferred, but there was a lot of extra features built into the new hardware & software to keep up with the competition.

Hi, I've managed to connect my Samsung S7 to the MMI, in a new A4 Allroad, with phonebox, but it doesn't have full functionality. I have Napster on the phone and it appears in the Audi Connect menu, but won't play anything. Some other features such as voice text are also missing. My wife's iphone works fine, so I'm assuming it's the Samsung, but no-one else on the forums appears to be reporting problems. Any ideas anyone please ?

Hi robbyg,
I know there are plenty of aftermarket head units that you can use for Android devices.
Here's a few especially designed for Audi's (http://xtrons.co.uk/head-units/custom-special-car/car-make-a-k/audi.html)

Does anyone knows is there a possibillity to get audi connect working on mmi 3g plus without sim? I have enabled all functions in hidden menu under internal modules 1+2 so I have audi connect in MMI menu and enabled NAD operation to have Car phone option when pairing my Galaxy S7. When I click to make car phone profile it says that connection cant be established. Should I try to switch on 3G signal on my phone? I tryed to reset bluetooth settings on both mmi and phone but mmi cant make car phone profile. Audio stream and handsfree working flawless.

I think that if the car des not have the sim slot then it does not have the necessary hardware required for Audi connect and therefore you cannot create a data connection between the car and the phone even if it supports rsap

Still not sure that will work as do not think the non-Audi Connect systems have the ability to take data from an external data source however connected. Also to access Audi Connect requires a licence from Audi and as your car did not ship from Audi with Audi Connect I doubt they will be able or willing to issue you with a licence

You need theese :
1. AMI to USB Audi Cable
2. Any passive usb HUB with 2-4 ports
3. USB to Ethernet adaptor:
Trendnet TU2-ET100 or
D-Link DUB E-100 (rev A4 or B1), or
Gembird NIC-U1
Infact any adaptor with chipset:
AX88772
AX88772A
AX88172
4. Portable Router with WISP mode,
TP-Link TL-MR3020 or
TP-Link TL-MR3040
Im getting MR3020 and will put unlocked openwrt firmware on it.
You can put theese devices in glovebox near ami interface but if you want to connect usb internet dongle then you have to connect aditional 12V power source for router (best place is in under front arm rest lid.
Initial idea is to connect router to mobile hotspot on your cell phone so google earth and audi connect have data connection. For subscription you need to create account on MMI connect application for your smartphone so your car VIN number will be subscribed for audi connect services. I will post instructions later for programing router and enabling GEMMI.

I have an A8 W12 from 2008 and an S7 (normal, not edge). RSAP woirks great, although pairing requires a 12 digit number
BUT it only remembers the PIN for about 15 minutes!
So every time I get in the car I have to .. wait for the console to open and finish warming up, say Yes to pair, say yes to the 12 DIGIT pin, type that into my phone and wait for the pairing to finish. Only THEN can I drive off. Otherwise I have no pairing or I get 'not possible whilst moving' from the safety police on screen.
Oh, and if I ignore it I get a modal (ie you can do nothing until you've answered it) question asking if I want to pair my phone on RSAP. But as I'm now driving I can't say Yes (or you get the 'not while driving' message) and if I say No it waits ten seconds and bloody asks me again
It is REALLY getting on my nerves. What was one of the best features of the car is now the most annoying
tom
