Got a problem with my son-in-laws a4 170 quattro,BRD dpf came up soon after the glow plug light, then limp mode, anyway connected my vcds and its showing p2002 code, after some delving I've discovered that the clutch pedal switch is defective its showing a 1 in mvb indicating its depressed constantly,I believe this will not allow a passive regen to take place, anyway decided to do a regen with vcds, hit code 11 put the code in 21295 as prompted, accepted ok,went for a drive, observed mvb 070 and 075 but counldn't get the dpf inlet temp high, checked the regen status and it doesn't show regen in progress, the diesel particulate load coeff is showing 170%,checked the g450 sensor disconnected the pipes and there's pressure getting to it before dpf and slight pressure after,so i'm assuming its ok,there's no fault code showing for it.so my question is can someone walk me through the regen process, secondly, will the clutch switch prevent a vcds regen, thirdly does a dodgey g450 go bad without giving a code.

Go into advanced measuring blocks and tick all of the DPF relevant boxes such as temp that you have already done BUT include the ash mass and soot loading, you can select 12 values and that should just about be them all.

Cheers crasher, will do asap, may take a day or so due to access to the car, would the clutch switch prevent forced regen, couldn't get one today bank hols, are there any lockout to prevent regen if the *** content is excessive?

If there are any relevant engine codes or the ash mass or soot loading are too high, it will not allow a regen as there is a real danger of the DPF getting so hot it can cause a fire.

No chance! You need to take the DPF and have it professionally cleaned and then re-fit it with a new DPF pressure sensor. Adapt the new sensor to the ECU and then reset the ash mass value a lot lower but to Zero (0) as for a new DPF is not recommended, I tend to set it at about 25% of the maximum value so around 10 grams.

I send mine to DPF Clean team in Hinckley, a few days downtime but they do a good job.

Just to give you a update, the issue was a failed g450 sensor giving duff readings, there was NO fault codes being given, couldn't do a forced regen with vcds, anyway she's running fine at the mo,thanks all.
