Hi I have a 2006 A6 Avant that has a Central locking issue. All the doors lock except for the passenger front which can still be opened from the outside when the rest of the door are locked. I can hear the motor working inside the door when I lock and unlock the doors but I can still open the door for the outside. Any clues?

Hi ya Dan :) ,
Yes indeed matey ;) , I recall there was a thread about this topic which I think you and B5NUT were sharing your experiences.
How much was the part BTW?

A year ago i got a passenger door lock for around £114 form TPS new. This was on a friends 2006 A6 Avant.
A rear lock should be cheaper.

Cheers! as you've seen this part and I haven't do you think there is something serviceable on it to make it come back to life? only ask as a) mine seems to work at times b) trying to keep costs down as recently wife had a low speed accident (she's at fault) and I need to get work done or do myself on front end.

There is nothing serviceable in it, I still have it in a tool box at work and i will post up a few pictures tomorrow.
The micro switches are potted so no real way to replace them and the lock is not easy to put back together.
For the price of a used or new not worth the effort in trying to repair, i thought that it could be a simple switch change.

:You_Rock_Roy! Cheers for that mate! as mine is intermittent I think I will have a meddle with it first! if I didn't I don't think I'd qualify as a "meddling owner" ;) ...

I have a similar problem with my drivers front.
I've noticed in temps above 10 degrees it doesn't happen, for now am happy to open the rear drivers side and open rather than spend £££'s fixing....hopefully for Summer it will be trouble free :D

Let us know how you get on with it. It may save us £££'s if it works.

Have you tried removing the motor to see what the condition of the pins are like ?
dan2485

The motors just lift out easily, they are the easy part of the job.
I will look at the pins sometime this weekend to see if this was the issue on this lock.

Hi Roy, Just took some pictures now.
There are no issues with the pins just a little bit of grease on them and the motors are all good.

That's grease on the pin and not damage.

This lock has a failing microswitch.

Damn, I hoped that there was a cheap fix available.
Thanks for looking for us.
Why is it always the unlocking micro switch that fails and not the locking one ?

The fact that you have to remove the lock to check it means it's easier just to replace it.

Does anyone have the part number for the replacement Audi lock assembly?
My 2009 is now refusing to let me in the driver's door. Started as an intermittent fault (always opened on the 2nd attempt), then worked fine for ages and now has suddenly stopped unlocking the driver's door altogether

@Dan2485
Many thanks for the detailed images and offer on bits from your old lock :You_Rock_.
Sorry I never replied as a) didn't get notification of posts to thread via email b) not been glued to forum like I used to be.
Mine still be working on and off, still not found time or hasn't bothered me enough to sort it (LOL).
Only reason caught up with posts in this thread as was searching for Roy's info to link into another thread, your posts have further enhanced thread :fing02:.

Don't tell everyone but there's this little known about auction website called 'Ebay'
Took me less than 90 seconds to find it was/is 4F2837015

Hi all I have the issue where the drivers door won’t unlock on my 2009 q5, if I use the inside door handle and then close the door again the outside one will work, I have came to the conclusion it’s the lock module you are discussing, the thing is when I look it up on eBay it says the one I’m viewing doesn’t fit the car and one seller have told me it’s a rear door module in need for my front drivers door (right hand drive) how can I find out what the part number is without stripping the door twice ?

Have a look at this diagram, No1 is the door lock I think door lock; inner actuator - Audi Q5(AQ5) [EUROPA 2009 year] (7zap.com) (https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+q5/aq5/2009-647/8/837-837030/)
Be careful, some are for LHD.
