Hi all,
So having some spare cash I've decided to purchase some Xenarc 66240 ultimate night breaker.
Question is, once fitted how do I adjust/align? Would the car not do it automatically as I have the automatic level adjustment?

Would these have any effect on the Can US

I've changed my xenons a few times, no adjustment needed.
Did try the xenarcs out but saw no discernable difference between those and cheapy £10 (a pair!) xenons.
All xenons will degrade over time and it's probably worth changing every couple of years.

Furion, think it's just a straight swap and has no effect on the CANBUS. Thanks Mark. Bought some Xenarc 66240 XNB. Once there here I'll take some before and after pics.

You'll definately see a difference if you change one of them in the evening and take a picture of a new with an old.
I took a picture of a) old b) one old one new cheapy c) one old one new xenarc d) one new cheapy and one new xenarc
Saw a difference on b & c but not on d in either daylight/dusk or night
Since it's your first time you may find the passenger side a tight squeeze, courtesy of small hands I was able to do that side without moving the PAS reservoir, however most have found loosening it to be easier.

Thanks furion, already seen that on YouTube. Seem pretty straight forward. Although I have the Facelift C6 with Xenons so the connectors will be different.

Can anyone confirm the type of xenon bulb for a 2011 C6? Is it D2S or D3S?

D2S but will say in your manual...or indeed if you google :(

Doesn't say in the manual and finding contradicting information online. According to Osram Application Guide it's d2S for pre facelift and D3S for facelift.

Forum search indicates it's D3S for facelift....I'd wait for another xenon fitted facelift to confirm.

Spoke to Audi dealer about these xenon bulbs for my 09 A6(facelift) and the parts guy assured me it's a D3S,42v and 45 watt. Was straight out the door when he said they cost £160 per bulb

^^^^Lol amazing price
Personally I'd stick to cheapies like these:
D3S Factory Fitted Xenon HID Replacement Bulb 4300k ONE bulb audi A5 A6 Q7 | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/D3S-Factory-Fitted-Xenon-HID-Replacement-Bulb-4300k-ONE-bulb-audi-A5-A6-Q7-/271280160589?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f298ebf4d)
I guarantee it'll be brighter than your old 'OEM' one
And at an eight of the price, if they're half as good your onto a winner! :biglaugh:

If that's the case guess we can use this

Yep, absolutely perfect but your lights would look a little imbalanced with just one fitted :)
Am sure you can pick up a pair off ebay for less than £150 though!

Audi don't sell the bulb on its own, what you are actually buying is the bulb and ballast unit. I replaced both of then xenons for a £30, they were Phillips bulbs bought from the fella who sells the LED kits, you have to change both bulbs because there will be color difference otherwise. The bulbs I fitted were 6k so white with a blue tint, there were no issues with the MOT either.

Which is exactly what the ebay & amazon items are..as thought the silver box is the ballast unit?

Just had a quick look on Amazon, yes you are correct Mark, 55w H7 x2 with ballast £26.99.
On a side note the difference between H7 & H7R is, H7 is for when you look at your Headlamp the bulb is hidden behind what looks like a magnified lens, H7R is for headlamps where you can see the bulb when you look into the Headlamp. 35w will give you about 3200 lumens 55w will give you 4200 lumens.

Thanks for the confirmation, the reason that D2S aren't flavour of the month is due to their mercury content, D3S's don't use any.
Stock/OEM is usually circa 4300k, as you'll know anything higher will give that purple/blue tint and lower road illumination (to the human eye), for that individual/boy-racer look :D
A good explanation here:

The 4K bulbs are oem as you know the 6K tends to be popular as it's offers good light and a very slight blue tint, I had replaced the Le mans 4k with 6K and they looked just right.
