replacing bonnet release cable

ok so the nipple from the bonnet release at the drivers footwell came away from the cable itself. and ive been able to use pliers to the end were the nipple broke off to release the bonnet. ive a new cable to replace the broken one. and would like an understanding as to how i go about replacing a new cable. diagrams and walk threws welcome. i tried taping the new cable to the end of the old cable which would be at the front grill. and pulling the end which is at the footwell threw to try and feed the new cable in. but it got so far the old cable snapped. and now am left with no new cable feed. tried everything i could think off. so if anyone has a no how briilant. many thanx

all sorted so heres how i done it. hope this helps.

Lift vehicle.
Remove driver front wheel.

Remove fender liner.

Locate a black grommet or hole at the rear of the fender cavity. The cable slides through a hole in the body. You should be able to see a spot where the old cable ran through the body and into the cabin.

Insert metal end of cable through the hole and slide it up to the hood release lever. This should be a clear shot. The lever should not have to be removed to install the cable. Take your time and insert the metal end of the cable into the slot on the lever.

Now insert the other end of the cable (should be plastic) between an opening between the headlamp and the fender. The cable should follow a smooth arc from the body (where we inserted it into the cabin) up to the hood latch.

Use zip-ties to secure the cable to the wiring harness that runs along the upper inner edge of the fender.

The cable should now be resting on top of the headlight, facing the hood latch. The cable now runs underneath the upper rear edge of the radiator support (the big black thing that holds the headlamp and hood latch).

Insert plastic end of cable into hood latch (on back side of latch facing the engine). It should snap right in. Tilt tip down into latch, and snap it in.

The important thing is that the cable does not get bent or crimped. It should follow a natural arc from the release lever, under the fender, and along the radiator support up to the latch.

Tip: before you start, take your new cable, and lay it on top of the vehicle along its intended route. Have a second person hold one end and get a feel for how it is going to fit in the car before you try to snake it through the various holes. This helps visualize the install.

Also, test the cable before you close the hood. Make sure it does not bind. Double check your cable route before reinstalling the liner, wheel, etc.
