Hello all, Ive got a 2003 1.9 tdi Sharan with 96000 on the clock. We've only had it 6 weeks and when my wife was driving it a couple of days ago there was a bad wobble coming from the front of the car.
We bought it from a dealer in Bristol who put 12 months ticket on plus did a service prior to us picking it up. Our local garage in Glastonbury took a look and said NSF drive shaft boot had come away on the larger end and the OSF inner drive shaft boot had split but quite a while ago. Ive took the undertray off and had a look myself and sure enough my mechanic is right. There is some play in both the inner cv joints so could this be causing the wobble. I think I will be getting both shafts replaced at the same time, any preference on supplier that you may have and any other info would be much appreciated.

Here's an update and I hope it can help anyone else out with the same sort of problem.
Drive shaft U/J on the drivers side was shot to pieces, part of the joint had come apart inside the rubber boot, luckily we stopped driving it as it could have completely disintegrated ! Has now been fixed with a new drive shaft either side. Also got the front wheels balanced properly by my local tyre fitters. The wobble has now gone and the sharan drives very smoothly. I hate buying secondhand cars at the best of times so hopefully this one will be trouble free for years to come.
