I'm looking to buy a C6 but wondering do they change the auto gearbox after a certain year?

Some say tiptronic but then I've heard of s-Tronic?

Are all C6 3.0tdi tiptronic?

Hi,

With the A6 there are two types of Auto boxes.

One is a 6 speed tiptronic box, the other a multi-tronic box which I think is a CVT box.

The tiptronic, according to Audi is filled for life, but it's prudent to get the oil changed occasionally, and ZF who make the box recommend the same. I did mine at 40k and plan to keep doing this.

The multitronic definately needs periodic changes, which I recall are at 40k miles.I think the multi-tronic box is for the FWD models and the tip-tronic for quattro.

Thanks for this information, I have been looking at Audi A6 3.0tdo Quattro Le Mans and they all just say automatic, how would u b able to tell which box are in them?

V6 3.0 TDi will only be tiptronic (in auto) plus AFAIK all will have paddles... all 3.0 TDi's are quattro regardless of manual/auto transmission...

Multitronic auto is only on the V6 2.7 TDi if it is not quattro... if it is quattro then will be tiptronic...

There are brochures on the UK Audi site to aid you as well Link:- Brochures < A6 < Approved Used Range < Used cars < Audi UK (http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/audi-approved-used/a6/brochures.html)

My 3.0 v6 tdi does not have paddles. Probably an optional extra on early ones? Mines an 05.

I think some early cars were optional.

Most A6's in the USA don't have them.

Does yours have the multifunction steering wheel? ie mode button/rotary wheel for MMI functions on left side, on right side speech button/rotary wheel for volume control

Part no 4F0 419 091 A is fitted to 2005 -2008 A6 .... PR code would be 1MR = Leather steering wheel

For instance mine is PR 2ZS = Leather trimmed multi-function steering wheel with Tiptronic

I'll have a search IIRC there was even a post on VWAF where you were in thread querying why poster did not have MFSW...

Oops what happened there :(

Fair enough, thought I read somewhere they came with MFSW as standard.

I think there are are few specs like say colour DIS being included or not... the chrome trim exterior being standard / optional and other bits which they kept changing or are given if you say take a certain option...

When I had a play with Audi configurator for a A6(C7) there are options that if you select you will have to have another as it is part of that...

Anyway as long as we all enjoy the cars it's all gravy :beerchug:...

:boggled: ... :bigeyes2: ... what do your PR codes state?

All gravy baby my pr code is 2PU = leather multifunction sports steering wheel.

I had a play with some paddles when test driving others and it seems like fun, albeit other part to go wrong!

Still I would much prefer that over using the gear 'stick' in 'manual' mode.
