Hi y'all, My daughter has aquired an '06 1.6 Golf, its covered 16,500 mls in its short life, service intervals are set at longlife at the moment, that will change to yearly when the time comes, she would like to give it an oil and filter change, her question is will this be detected by the obc? Giving the game away!:1zhelp:

The oil quality will change but the time factor of two years will still count down regardless of oil change ,but you can only goto a maximum of 19000 miles any way so just hang on and the service indicator should pop up.Or you could have the 1st service converted to the 20,000 mile service and reset to time and distance(10,000 or 12 months).

Thanks, my understanding of the long life service intervals was 24 months or 30,000 mls, now where did i hear this?:(
'up to' fits in there somewhere.....depending on driving style/conditions.

Petrol are 2 years or 20K or "Service on dash"
Changing the oil and filter now, will c0ck up the cars servicing schedule.
I would wait till "service" pops on the dash then, get your car serviced on fixed schedule.
